A single elastic loop holds the refill in place. No rings. No clips. No metal spine. The Pensift B6 stays as slim as a single notebook because that's all it is: a leather cover around a notebook. When it's full, slide the old refill out. Slide a new one in.

The B6 format (198 × 140 mm closed) is large enough to write comfortably but compact enough to slide into a bag alongside a laptop without adding bulk. It fits the space between your keyboard and the edge of most desks.
Italian Epsom leather. Built to look sharp, not precious.
Epsom leather — a heat-pressed calfskin with a fine cross-hatched grain. We chose it because it solves a problem most leather notebooks have: they look aged, or they're too delicate to use daily. Epsom resists scratches. Its less porous structure means oils from your hands don't soak in and oxidize the way they do with vegetable-tanned leather. Your cover looks similar after twelve months of daily use as it did on day one.
Paper that works with your pen, not against it.
The refill uses 64 gsm Japanese-milled paper. Thin enough to keep the notebook slim, substantial enough to handle fountain pen ink with minimal bleed-through and minimal show-through. Rollerballs and gel pens work just as well. 80 pages per refill. Enough for the project at hand. Slim enough to carry without a second thought.

Frequently asked questions
How does the refill system work?
Slide out the old refill, slide in a new one. A single elastic loop keeps each refill in place — no rings, clips, or mechanisms. The whole swap takes about five seconds. Each refill comes with a bookmark ribbon in the middle. To insert, open the refill to the middle page and slide it into the cover, then adjust so the ribbon sits clear of the elastic loop.
How long does one refill last?
Depends on how you use it. For daily writing, most people get 4–8 weeks from one 80-page refill. Heavier writers or sketchers may go through them faster. We'd suggest keeping 2–3 refills on hand.
Why only 80 pages?
Because a thicker notebook is a worse notebook. More pages means more bulk, more weight, and a stiffer spine that fights you when you try to lay it flat. 80 pages is enough for most active projects — and when you're done, you slide in a fresh refill instead of carrying around months of old notes.
What pens work with the paper?
The 64 gsm Japanese paper handles fountain pens, rollerballs, and gel pens with minimal bleed-through and minimal show-through. We've tested across a range of inks — the ink test photos above show typical results.
What leather do you use?
Italian Epsom leather — a heat-pressed calfskin with a fine cross-hatched grain. It's scratch-resistant, lightweight, and doesn't absorb oils from your hands, so it maintains its appearance over time without darkening or developing patina. It's the same category of leather used in high-end leather goods and structured luxury handbags, chosen here because no other leather maintains this slim, clean profile under daily use.
Will my cover look exactly like the photos?
Each cover is cut from real leather, so there will be subtle grain variations and minor texture differences. This is normal and expected — no two covers are identical.
How do I care for the leather?
Wipe it with a dry cloth. That's usually enough. For a deeper clean, use a slightly damp microfiber cloth with water only. Avoid alcohol-based wipes, hand sanitiser, and solvents — these damage the protective top coat. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Can I write in it without a desk?
The Epsom leather cover is flexible, not rigid — it's designed to be used on a flat surface like a table or desk. It won't function like a hardback notebook on your lap or standing up. This is a deliberate choice: a rigid cover would add bulk and weight, which goes against the slim, lay-flat design.
Can I use other B6 notebooks as refills?
Our cover fits JIS B6 size (128 × 182 mm). ISO B6 (125 × 176 mm) notebooks will physically fit but with a slightly looser margin — about 3 mm extra width and 6 mm extra height — so we don't recommend it.

What's your return policy?
All sales are final — we don't accept returns for change of mind. If your item arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, we'll replace or refund it. Report any issues within 7 days of delivery.
